Bill Patterson: National Guard Youth Foundation Gala
About Live Performances
I have done well over 100 live paintings over the years for corporate entertainment, charity auctions, or parties and celebrations and am proud to helped have raised over one million dollars for my clients charities through the auctioning of my paintings. Some of the most recognizable names in the entertainment and racing world have signed (and purchased!) my work in paint, as I paint. It makes for a memorable and unique finished piece. And talk about hanging a story on your wall!
A “good night” at a charity event is a sale price of over $12,000.00, which is a little over my average which I would estimate at $10,000.00. I supply everything I need to do the painting with the exception of lighting (very important!), and a small table for my brushes.
Amelia 2013, painted live during cocktails at the Saturday night gala. Auctioned for charity later that evening sold for $41,000.00
I can work on a stage or down on the floor, but in the case of charity events, I have valuable input as to where/when/how.
A very fun feature is to have notable personalities add a few strokes of paint (with a little direction), and/or sign the painting with a brush, this also tends to raise the value of the piece!

I do a painting at every NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. I set up in Victory Circle, and start a painting of the winner within the last dozen laps, and finish it well before the last of the celebrations. At some point before it’s over the winning driver will come over and sign the finished piece in paint. Needless to say, Kevin Harvick is getting pretty good with a brush. The painting then is hung at PIR’s nearby corporate offices, usually replacing the previous winner in their lobby.

And at charity events, having (notable guests)Mario, Michael and Marco Andretti (as one of many examples) sign in paint is a great way to focus the crowd’s attention before the auction begins.
Most of my live art has been motor racing related, but I have had many happy clients for tennis, hockey, sailing, golf, and non-sporting events, even a couple of weddings!
